Our Story

My name is Liv and I am Sighthound obsessed.  There, I said it.

I grew up with a black Lab who I adored but every time I passed an elegant hound of any sort I found myself propelled towards them and before I knew it I was stroking their sleek little head and introducing myself.

Is it their regal shape and stance? Is it the fact that they are one of the fastest land animals on the planet? The cantilever ears? The velvet fur? The fact that they are so elegant and yet all little roaching weirdos?  ALL OF IT.

After pestering my husband for circa 10 years, when my father died he realised that it would be a sure-fire way to comfort me and soon I had a tiny blue whippet pup in my arms: Mallory. (My husband named him after George Mallory, the butch explorer, but everyone thinks he's a girl....)

Mallory fulfils many roles in my life - my confidant, favourite child, entertainer and most recently my Co-founder and muse.  He looks devastated 99% of the time which is a great source of comfort - as however bad my day is, it perks me up to know it can't possibly be as bad as his...

Sighthounds are beautiful, elegant, regal dogs and I wanted to create a brand to match.  A collar is the one item that a dog wears everyday, it needs to keep them safe, it needs to feel as comfortable as a second skin and, let's be frank, it needs to look stunning.  When creating Cub & Grey I decided to use only the very best of British materials - no short cuts and cheap alternatives - to create some of the most striking Sighthound products on the market.

I hand-make each of our products to order, which means that they are bespoke and truly personal to you and your hound. My workshop is in a listed 18th century cottage nestled in the Worcestershire countryside - it couldn't really be more authentic!

Ultimately, Cub & Grey is a British heritage brand with quality at its core.  See our products to find out why our renowned Sedgwick leather is a cut above the rest - and treat your hound to some world-class leather that will last a lifetime.
